ZBZ Witten

Competency Centre 

The ZBZ in Witten is a strongly networked specialist location for businesses and projects from the field of bioscience and (dental) medical research and development.

As a facility for economic development the ZBZ was built using public-sector EU funding, monies from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the City of Witten and was opened in December 2008. With the services it provides it is targeted at business founders as well as at small and medium-sized businesses carrying out application-oriented research, development, manufacturing or innovative services. The competency centre is operated as a 100 per cent subsidiary company of the City of Witten.

Networking

The tenants and partners of ZBZ profit from the particular (dental) medical competencies of the location in Witten, which are connected here to the biomedical strengths of the Ruhr Metropolis region, as well as the inclusion of the Centre in the relevant Networks. Examples of this are ZBZ‘s membership in the registered associations MedEcon Ruhr e.V. and Bioindustry e.V.

Advantageous Location

Synergies in addition also arise through the location on the university campus and the spatial as well as the partial organisational proximity to the FEZ Witten Research and Development Centre as well as the Witten/Herdecke University. The first private University in Germany, on a campus with designated development areas as a potential for further growth it developed itself into an important new impulse for the regional economy.
