One of our regional strengths – also in an international comparison – is health economics with its large development potential. The Ruhr Metropolis is one of the densest clinical landscapes in Europe and is therefore a significant sales market for medical and clinical goods and services. With around 230,000 employees the health economy is the largest employment sector in the Ruhr Metropolis.

Medical care and research are very closely connected. In numerous university and also non-university research establishments, top researchers work closely with one another. Tie-ups and co-operation models make effective networking work possible between research, development and economics. The largest number of clinical studies in Germany is carried out here.
